Sparx Systems NZ’s Enterprise Architect User Group will be starting again in a few weeks and we want to make sure we start the year with a bang.

EAUG will be taking place on Thursday, 11th March at the Catch offices in Auckland and Wellington and for the first time we will be offering a limited number of Go2Meeting links into the meeting for those of you outside of these main centres [details at the bottom].

Finally, before I give you the details about this first group of the year, a quick reminder that we are always looking for presenters and topic suggestions. So, if you have any interesting project experiences or specific areas of expertise that you would like to share with the group, let us know and you could be our next presenter.

Enterprise Architect: Beyond UML

Date: Thursday, 11th March 2010
Time: 16.00 - 17.30
Venues: Level 3, 300 Queen Street, Auckland - AND - Level 5, 93 Boulcott Street, Wellington

UML has been around for almost 15 years and is used by organisations globally, but very few use UML ‘out of the box’. This month we will be looking at typical areas where Business Analysts need to go beyond what UML offers and discussing how this can be achieved in Enterprise Architect. Ross Park will kick-start the discussion using some examples from his own experience and then it’s your turn to share. How have you extended UML to meet the needs of your projects? Why did you choose to do so? What are the benefits and pitfalls of going beyond the standard notation?

Also this month… We are fortunate to have Scott Hebbard from Sparx Systems HQ joining us to talk briefly about the Sparx Community site and what this can offer the Enterprise Architect Community. He will be giving a brief presentation and will then be available to answer any questions you may have about this fantastic new resource.

If you would like to attend this group please register your interest at ea@catchlimited.com.

All welcome - No charge

Go2Meeting: We’re starting the year with ONLY ten Go2Meeting links into the meeting to see what the demand is like. If you would like to link yourself or your team into the meeting pop us an email across at ea@catchlimited.com and you will be allocated a link. These are available strictly on a first come - first served basis so make sure get in quick if you want one!
