Version History
It has been a busy year for the development team at Catch who put out several new releases of Enterprise Tester. A quick overview of exisiting functionality below:

   • Version 1.1 enhanced the reporting functionality and added the first batch of report templates. This
      included script status, incident status, requirements status and script extract reports. Multi-Step
      Execution Customisable Project Dashboard Report Data inc. Export. Further work was done on the
      dashboard portlets, allowing you to customise your dashboard with real-time reports and data. Plus, we
      added the ability to extract your test scripts to third party products including PDF, RTF, XML, CSV and XSLX; 
      an enhancement which provides you the option of printing the data in your Enterprise Tester project.
      Finally, we added a multi-step execution screen in grid format, giving you a holistic view of your
      execution sets.

   • Version 1.2 introduced a personal edition of Enterprise Tester.

   • Version 1.3 introduced data import and export functionality, script execution enhancements and a number
      of fixes. The new features included; an import wizard which allows script and requirement data to be
      imported and updated from a .CSV file into a project, an export wizard allowing export to .CSV, the provision
      for faster completion of script execution, the display of last run details, and the ability to record multiple
      failure steps in a script execution. Several of these features were brought forward in the development
      schedule in response to customer feedback, which leads to a reminder that we are happy to receive any, and
      all, feedback so please don’t hesitate to send it our way! 

   • Version 1.4 marked a significant milestone in the product’s development. The script planning and
      execution enhancements that were made include; the ability to toggle between plans and packages, enhanced
      grouping support for execution scripting, drag & drop support for script to execution packages, copy &
      paste of execution packages, JIRA-style estimation and tracking functionality, estimated vs. remaining
      time reporting and graphs, bulk assignment and status updates, and ‘filter by’ functionality.

   • Version 1.5 introduced a number of minor enhancements to improve usability. This included increased field
      lengths for all test step properties and improved error reporting and defect tracking.

   • Version 1.6 provided full audit history and introduced enhancements to the test step and incident
      functionality.

   • Version 1.7 enhanced the product to further facilitate agile projects, within which Enterprise Tester is
      increasingly being used. Along with a number of other enhancements this release fully supports iterative use
      case importing, adds support for automatic test coverage information imports from Enterprise Architect and
      introduces a simple wizard for adding external links to both Enterprise Architect and JIRA.

   • Version 1.8 included a number of new features and enhancements especially around the new
      programme-level reporting - Key Performance Indicator, Actual vs Estimated Time, Incident Numbers
      Over Time, Incident Ratio Over Time, and Tests Completed Over Time reports - and additional database
      support for Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySql.

   • Version 1.9 simplified user management in Enterprise Tester by linking to Atlassian's Crowd or your LDAP
      implementation. This release also added suport for Enterprise Architect v8.0's new structured use case
      screens to automatically generate steps for your tests scripts.

   • Version 2.0 was a major release which provided element versioning so that you can view changes in the past
      and pull them into the present, baselining functionality which allows you to take snapshots in time or create
      project templates for reuse, and external version control integration.

Atlassian Plugin of the Month Demo


Enterprise Tester was Atlassian's Plugin of the month this August. Bryce presented an in depth webinar - at 4am local time - to Atlassian TV. It was a great webinar with an in depth Q&A session.

Creating Test Scripts


Create Test Scripts in the explorer by selecting a Test Script Package and selecting the 'add script' option. Users may drag and drop created scripts to test plan packages within the explorer.

Test Packages, Scripts and Execution Plans can be created in the explorer through a simple 'click & select' function, whilst drag and drop functionality allows you to manage your folder and packages however best suits your project.
